Who We Are

Founded in 2010 and officially registered in 2014, Buganda Disabled Union (BUDU) is a recognized Disabled Persons’ Organization (DPO) that works to address the exclusion of PWDs in Buganda Kingdom’s development programs. We operate under the guidance of the Buganda Kingdom Government, closely collaborating with the Ministry of Gender and Community Development to promote disability inclusion.

Our Mission

To promote the socio-cultural and economic rights of persons with disabilities in the Buganda Kingdom through advocacy, inclusive programming, and capacity building within the kingdom’s governance structures.

Our Vision

A Buganda Kingdom where persons with disabilities are fully included, economically empowered, and actively participate in cultural, social, and economic life.

Our Core Values

BUDU’s work is guided by the following values:

  • Obumu (Unity): Strengthening collective action among PWDs in Buganda.

  • Obwetwaaze (Self-Reliance): Empowering PWDs to lead independent lives through economic and social inclusion.

  • Ekitiibwa (Dignity): Advocating for respect, equal rights, and meaningful inclusion of PWDs.

  • Obwerufu (Accountability & Transparency): Ensuring responsible management of all programs and resources.
